Our Story
Welcome to Snow-Reports.ca! Our vision is to provide a one-stop information source for snow conditions from ski resorts in western Canada. From daily snow reports, to weather, resort details, links and other useful information, we hope you enjoy your visit!
Here is some antiquated information about Snow-Reports.ca:
Weather Reports
The current weather reports are based on the latest METAR data as reported from the closest aerodrome to the resorts, or the closest Environment Canada weather station; the actual mountain weather can vary from the reported weather due to geographical location, elevation, and time of the most recent report.
As a general rule-of-thumb, for every 1000m of elevation gain, the temperature drops ~6.5 degrees Celsius. As an example, the top of Revelstoke Mountain Resort is at 2225m above sea level, while the Revelstoke airport (where the weather is reported by Environment Canada) is at 443m above sea level. At 6.5 degrees Celsius, this means that without inversions or other variations, the temperature can be estimated at 11.6 degrees colder than reported. (Or you can check Revelstoke's sub-peak weather reporting.)
Weather forecasts are provided by Environment Canada.
Snowfall Reports
Snowfall data is as reported by the resorts in their daily snow report. As with anything else, there may occasionally be errors in our snowfall data. If you notice a discrepancy, please let us know so we can fix it!
We take no responsibility for the accuracy of the weather or snowfall data, or if your day doesn’t turn out to be as epic as you had hoped…
