Black Prince - January 14, 2012

With some recent snow in Kananaskis Country over the past week, along with some stablization in the snow-pack, we headed into Kananaskis Country today to Black Prince for some turns. The snow was falling harder than forecast, and there was certainly some accumulation over the day, and there was no wind. We had a terrible day, as evidenced by some of the photos:

With the recent snow, avalanche conditions are forecast to become slightly higher as the snowpack adjusts to the new load and due to the formation of storm slabs, particularly in the alpine. Before heading out, be sure to check the Avalanche Bulletin and be sure you have all your gear!
